Planning is nearing fruition!
Jun. 28th, 2008 02:02 pm I HAVE KANJANI EITO TICKETS!!!!!!!
So, all my concert tickets are now obtained! Everything is pretty much A GO for Japan! All I need is to pick up the pre-paid phone my friend is lending me, slap some money on it, and then start printing directions and information to put into my clear file.
I only have bits and pieces of planning left to do! I'm totally excited!
Now to finish up my wedding preparations. Everything is in order for the first wedding and I'm currently working on the joint bridal party and the bachelorette party themes. :D Thanks to
bitofpixiedust,
tinyangl, and
nihongofrancais for listening to me babble about themes and colors and invitations.
OH! If anyone has any ideas for Japanese musical groups they want to see perform in the United States, I'm taking in suggestions! Please keep in mind that I probably won't have the budget to get really top names like Gackt, T.M. Revolution, any of the JE groups, or Ayumi Hamasaki. But I am curious if there are bands I should be checking out for Fanime. :D Let me know! Pimp them to me!

Date: 2008-06-28 09:14 pm (UTC)We're going to leave Yokohama ridiculously early to ship our luggage to Kyoto and head to the venue. :D I'm going to try to get there early enough that we can get the con goods.
Maybe mousaPi and I can meet up with everyone after the show?

Date: 2008-06-28 09:48 pm (UTC)It would be fun to meet up afterwards. We don't have any plans for after the concert aside from picking up our bags and going to Kyoto, so it should be easy enough to do. :D

Date: 2008-06-29 05:00 pm (UTC)yah, mousaPi and I have to go to Kyoto before 8pm to be able to check into our ryokan. :D so maybe if we go to kyoto together?

Date: 2008-06-28 10:32 pm (UTC)Um... I can think of any number of lesser-known Jrock bands that I would like to see, but I'm not sure how affordable they would be. Should they have some connection to an anime, or does anything go?

Date: 2008-06-29 05:05 pm (UTC)How about both. I'll probably be looking for that anime or drama connection but it's not an absolute requirement. Rock or Pop. :D

Date: 2008-06-30 05:30 am (UTC)Hokay. Well, the first one to come to mind was D (the one with the Jin fan and former Junior XD), who have a single coming out in November for both the video game called Twilight Syndrome, and its upcoming live-action movie. They just went major this year, and signed with Avex Trax.
Another would be SID, who are a little more poppy (D's sound is... Dramatic Gawth). They played at Anime Central in 2004 (when Myv had to cancel, actually XD), too. They're with Danger Crue Records.
And looking at other comments, I am possibly giving more information than is necessary at this stage? XD
But I'd second/third Kagrra, too. Definitely. Also in that same company are Alice Nine and SCREW, but Alice Nine is pretty busy being popular these days. SCREW is still an indies band on the PS Company label, but they've been to Europe with Kagrra, A9, and various other labelmates, so. Maybe? They're also a bit more grargh than the others. :P
And I will stop now.

Date: 2008-06-29 12:27 am (UTC)UVERworld would totally rock my socks. ♥ I would definitely skip work to see them. ^_~
(HY would be good too, but they don't really have any connection to anime...)

Date: 2008-07-03 01:20 am (UTC)With anime connections (i.e., opening/ending theme songs)/have appeared at other anime conventions:
- SID [OHP (http://www.sid-web.info/)]
- Versailles [OHP (http://www.syncl.jp/artist/versailles/)]
- ACID (not to be confused with the 5 other bands with the same name and different punctuation/capitalization) [OHP (http://www.acid1.jp/pc/)]
- 12012 [OHP (http://www.12012.jp/)]
- Vidoll [OHP (http://www.vidoll.jp/)]
- RENTRER EN SOI [OHP (http://www.rentrerensoi.com/)]
- Nightmare [OHP (http://nightmare-web.com/)]
- Kagrra, [OHP (http://www.pscompany.co.jp/kagrra,/)]
----
Others that might go over well:
- girugämesh [OHP (http://www.girugamesh.com/)]
- SCREW [OHP (http://www.indie-psc.com/screw/)]
- alice nine. [OHP (http://www.pscompany.co.jp/alicenine/)]
- Gazette [OHP (http://www.pscompany.co.jp/gazette/)]
- D [OHP (http://www.d-gcr.com/)]
The second to last two are pretty popular (particularly Gazette) bands signed with PS Company. Nightmare and Kagrra, are under major labels although Kagrra, is still managed by PS Company. SCREW and girugämesh are definitely more rawr/hardcore, but girugämesh is very radio-friendly Western-style hardcore rock, and they also put on a FABULOUS live show. 12012 and some of RENTRER's stuff is also a bit harder--Versailles and RENTRER and somewhat Vidoll have a more VK-ish sound, although Vidoll is more rock but their older stuff is more standard VK with the symphonic/synthesizer elements. Nightmare, Gazette, and ACID are both rock, with experimental styles (a la Miyavi)--Nightmare does a lot of jazz-blending, and ACID is technically VK now because they started doing costumes and make-up (although their stuff is still fairly low-key, like Nightmare, unlike Versailles/Vidoll). Gazette would probably be extremely difficult--possibly (?) expensive, but more like they are meh about coming to the US
because they are having diva issuesand they do a shitton of touring in Japan. For more information on all the bands (http://jmusiceuropa.com/uk/database-artist.php), and I can upload stuff for all of them--I already have a Vidoll discography (http://coiled-iris.livejournal.com/113168.html) and D discography with a picspam--music and PVs after the picspam >_>; (http://coiled-iris.livejournal.com/52916.html) (and another picspam (http://coiled-iris.livejournal.com/112097.html)) up. This reminds me that I need to update those discography posts. Dolly is also an awesome band (http://coiled-iris.livejournal.com/53878.html). On my sidebar, I've linked a bunch of discography posts.
I think you're already in Japan now, SO, I hope you are having fun~
