I'm glancing through my music collection at work, making a playlist to play at my birthday party.

It strikes me that there are several songs that hold a lot of meaning for me this year. So, since I am always a curious one, what 3 songs define the year for you? Feel free to upload and spam me with the links and I'll add in a post to share with everyone. But I'm really curious to see what songs make you groove, what soothes you, what energizes you with positivity, what helps you cry, what makes you happy, what makes you think each time it comes up.

What are the songs that defines 2007 for you?


1. Tohoshinki - Begin (a capella) ~ I've always loved this song. I listen to it whenever I'm upset or feeling really stressed out or when I'm feeling inexplicably depressed at the world. I love Jaejoong's voice. I love how the song flows and I really, really love it when it's a capella.

2. Big Bang - So Beautiful (Korean) (English) ~ One of the songs I've been grooving to for a good chunk of the latter half of 2007. It's fun to clean to, it's fun to dance to, it's just a fun song because of the beat. I really can't think of a whole lot of songs that I've played this many times in a short space of time.

3. KAT-TUN - You ~ This is the song that was released when I was at the tail end of my Japan trip and really, the thing that cemented exactly how much I love Jin. I love the live performance of this at the cartoon KAT-TUN II You Tokyo Dome concert. There were SO many other songs that I could have chosen but honestly, I'll put this song and it settles me to sleep. There were so many nights when I had insomnia that I ended up putting this song on and trying a lot of meditation techniques to fall asleep to.

~*~ Anyband - TPL (Talk Play Love) ~ because of Junsu and Tablo, I really love this song. It's such a cool song for a really cool TV commercial.
~*~ w-inds. - LOVE IS THE GREATEST THING ~ oh my first Japanese boyband love! I love them dearly and this song is so happy and positive and makes my heart burst with overwhelming love.
~*~ NewS - Ai Nante ~ This song resonates with me. I love how it's sung and by some of my favorite NewS members. I don't know how NewS crept up to become a group I dearly love but they did. Must be because I adore Shige to pieces. And this song shows off his voice and I'm just in love. Tegoshi sounds utterly fantastic. I admit that when I heard of them collaborating on this song, I was surprised but it's quickly become one of my favorites along with Alibi and weeeek.
~*~ Akanishi Jin - Pinky ~ This is one of my favorite songs by Jin. That and Care. I adore his voice as much as I love Jaejoong's. So many things I have written to this song and so many times this song has made me dance a bit in the car and other stuff. Just...yeah. :D

I had a shitty year last year full of set backs that will set me back a minimum of 5 years in terms of my long term goals. But still being able to have a good attitudes, even in the time when everything seems to be on the wrong path, and being able to move forward with things that I had not recognized as my passion before because they didn't fall in line with how I thought things were going to be, that's important. :D

Well, my first thought is Yesterday, because I've been on a Beatles kick lately. But the lyrics (it's the Beatles song, by the way) really describe that year for me. It was the year I dropped a friend who was bad for me, Jin was gone for four months of it so I was depressed, etc. etc. It got better towards the end, but that described at least half the year.

Can't really think of any others at the moment since I'm tired, but I will ponder and get back to you. ♥

teenage (http://www.sendspace.com/file/acmc5a) - lasse lindh. My walking to work and feeling a little emo song. it is very silly but catchy.

otokonokotoonnnanoko (http://www.sendspace.com/file/gthnag) - quruli. this.. this band is love extreme. and this song, it just makes me so "yes".

also, anything by carrchy (卡奇社) is just so lovely and inspiring. I often find myself reading with the album playing on loop in the back ground. Track 6 (让我睡着吧) (http://www.sendspace.com/file/76vmc5) is a personal fav.

and Donawhale, from Korea, if you can find anything by them. I have a difficult time but they are so worth it.

Konayuki by Remioromen becauseI really really like the singer's voice, and I don't like this just because of Ryo. Although, it makes me teary sometimes.

Ai Uta by Greeeen, my host sister had this on a mixed CD and I really liked it (and it makes me nostalgic of my trip to Japan)

Sayaendo, NEWS, because it was the first Japanese CD/single I ever bought. There is a seriously love/hate relationship with this... I LOVE IT but hate that it lead me down the deep, dark, path to JE fan-girling.

The only song that really stuck out for me last year was Ashita Hareru Kana by Kuwata Keisuke. It's not because I especially liked ProDai or anything (actually, I couldn't even finish it because of all the Yamapi angst D:), but rather because it was popular during the summer and they were playing it on the airplane radio all the time. I got really exicted over that since it was the first semi-JE-related thing I experienced in Japan XD

Code, by Ryo. Just wow. I love the idea of it. I love the passion when Ryo performs it. I have three performances of this one song on my computer and two mp3s. It's just so, so gorgeous. It's my official love song (now if i could find the love to go with it, hmmm.)

Far Away by Nickelback was a song that really represented my last relationship for a while. I cried to that song. When it ended I almost had to delete the song because it was so connected to that madness. I still love it though.

Yorokobi no Uta MAKES ME RIDICULOUSLY HAPPY. I FLAILED TO MOUSAPI SO MUCH OVER THAT SONG. I had to choose between it and You.

I know what you mean about a song affecting you deeply and connecting you to a relationship. It was like that with me and Savage Garden's Truly, Madly, Deeply. I couldn't listen to it for the longest time but I whenever I did hear, I would try to remember the happy stuff. It's still one of my favorites. :D

Gosh three songs that define the year 2007...erm...that's quite hard... (I wish I could upload, but my internet connection is like the speed of growing-trees here...)

care - Akanishi Jin (KAT-TUN) - I first heard this last year and as soon as I heard it I was completely taken. It's a song that fits all many of my moods, happy, determined, sad, upset. His voice is amazing obviously, but there is just something about the way he sings this - the emotion, the energy and you can almost feel his presence through his voice. I love his live of this in SC where he's just completely absorbed in the song.

realise - melody. - Theme tune from Dragon Zakura, this was really energising! Whenever I was going through a hard time and needed to perk up or just before my finals I played this song.

孤單北半球 (Lonely Northern Hemisphere) - Song from Love Contract Even though this song only very recently came into my iTunes, so technically shouldn't count as a song from 2007, I think it defines 2007 for me. The song is really soothing and the lyrics reflect many things that happened in 2007. It's actually playing currently as I do this...

Others that I love:
~FREEDOM~ KAT-TUN - I actually found this song really irritating when I first heard it but Teej kept singing it at me and before I knew what had happened it was one of my favourites on my playlist. I guess because it's so light hearted and happy.

~Kizuna~ Kamenashi Kazuya (KAT-TUN) - for the same reason why I like care I guess. It's the way he sings it and the feelings behind it. For me, I thought it was really touching. It really comforted me when I was feeling down.

~夜曲 (night song)~ Jay Chou - I love the beat in this and Jay's voice is really alluring I love it! This song has never failed to get me dancing! Even out in the streets! XDD;;

~ズッコケ男道 (ZUKKOKE otokomichi) - Kanjani 8 - oh dear earth I can't believe I'm admitting that I actually like this song and that K8 actually made it on my lovelist!! Especially because my reaction for about a month after Teej made me watch the PV was like "WTF WTF!!! MY EARS!!" But I think for a song that makes me grin like an idiot and laugh no matter what mood I'm in should deserve a place here. (I blame Teej and Shabz for this!!)

~ Lovin' You ~ DBSK - The song that made me notice them in the first place. It's a really beautiful song and their voices make me swoon every time I listen to it. Their acapella is really just something else! Easily deserve a place on this list!

Lovin' You will always be the song I think of when someone mentions DBSK and it's the song that I listen to the most when I have my DBSK list playing.I have quite a lot of their Jap music and I find them quite a good group to work too - like it's really soothing but has beat so I can work to it. Their voices are just so beautiful - kinda velvety it's very nice. I don't know very much about the group though as I don't follow I hardly have time for the KT fandom lately T_____T

Jay Chou is good - especially his earlier works (which I prefer actually.) Nightsong just has something about it that makes me move my hips. I don't know...it's kinda has this seductive feel about it XDD;;;
