All of a sudden, I really, really miss ballroom dancing.

I miss dancing the waltz and night-club two step and hustle and east coast swing and even the west coast swing in which I fail miserably in learning the simplest steps.

I miss the sweeping and dizzying feel of the waltz. Of moving quickly and gracefully all around the dance floor and being lost in the music. Of spinning and trying to keep up in the hustle. Of slowing down and sensually moving my hips to the rumba beat.

I even miss doing those fun line dances with everyone and being all goofy in class. After teaching beginning ballroom & nightclub for 4 years, I didn't think I would miss it this much.

I've only been in ballroom for a trimester, and I miss it. It's very fun.

It's a blast! I do miss goofing off on the dance floor and just dancing.

Oh you poor thing... May I suggest:

http://www.fridaynightwaltz.com - next event Dec 31
http://www.peers.org – next event January 6
http://www.gaskellball.com - next event February 24th

Friday night waltzes are informal (about t-shirt jeans level) and are the most frequent of the lot. They also have the widest variety of dances: waltzes plus quick step, tango, and more; but I'm not sure about two step.

Peers dances are usually themed. My favorite is Le Bal Des Vampires for Halloween (which is the only one I tend to make).

Gaskell's balls are formal events once every three months, and seem to have the biggest following. They are the onces I usually make it to.

Let me know if you can make it out.

Ooooh. How interesting!

I don't know if I can make those since I've been fairly busy lately. I usually head out to Starlite Ballroom in Sunnyvale whenever I get the urge or drop in my old dance classes (my partner and I handed the reins over to some of our students).

I'll see if I can go to at least one of those.

Is there a reason you can't now?

A dance instructor, eh? Interesting...

Time is a big one. Plus, after 4 years of teaching, I was burnt out and I work crazy hours. So having a set evening schedule is fairly hard to maintain for me.

lol. yeah. it's a lot of fun but time-consuming.

I didn't know you did ballroom dancing!!

If I'm ever in the Bay Area long enough, could I get lessons from you? I'd love to learn, but I'm not comfortable doing it in such a huge setting with lots of strangers.
