My best friend was telling me about one of the lawsuits where a guy was playing the Wii with his huge Liquid Display TV (which is totally expensive) and the remote slipped out of his hands, the strap broke off and completely went through the tv. D: Thus, bye bye expensive tv.
So I'm glad to hear that they are reinforcing the straps.
I doubt the guy will get his TV replaced. I mean, it's not like Nintendo forced the guy to throw his Wiimote hard enough so that it would break his TV.
imho, I sort of think people are making a big deal out of something that's their own fault, since Nintendo does have a safety manuel for how to play the Wii, though I'm also glad that they're fixing the straps too since I'm sure they would have broken eventually in the future.
Seriously, the Wiimote's accelerometers top out on their detection range long before you're swinging the remote with anywhere near enough force to break a TV.
It's understandable that this is occurring though. It's very easy to get so much into the game that before too long, people are swinging the remotes at near mach speeds.
I think it good that Nintendo is taking on the burden of sending out replacement straps which are more robust than the originals. It's a pity they're now being met with a class action lawsuit.
