reminiscent musings
Jan. 19th, 2006 05:04 pmEver wonder how people you used to know are doing? Or when you're doing errands you run into someone you once knew years ago?
Last night, I went to a friend's graduation. Before his name was called, a familiar name and face popped up and walked. Another friend of mine was there with me and taking pictures stopped and said "hey, he looks familiar." We turn to each other and quietly exclaimed "We know him from high school!"
After the ceremony, we find our friend. After many (manly hugs) and congratulatory responses, we nearly set off to leave before halting and saying "We need to go find the other guy!" So we tell our friend who stared at us both in disbelief. "We hang out at lunchtime all the time!" he exclaimed. "No way!" says my friend and I. So we set off to find our old high school friend. And we found him. As well as his wife who also went to school with us.
It was a total surprise because they were the ones that got me into AD&D and anime. They, along with another schoolmate, instilled a lifelong habit of anime. And that translated into pretty boys. Yeah. I know. Surprising, ne?
Now years later, I'm still deeply addicted to anime as when I first started. And I'm not ashamed to tell people that I still Marmalade Boy (which is the first thing series I loved) and Sailor Moon (subbed, not dubbed, people. so much better subbed. SO MUCH BETTER.)
Yeah. I am soooo making them come to Fanime Con.
