Done because I've been prodded by some people. :-P Happy, now?
How it works:
Step One
- Make a post (public, friends locked, filtered... whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friends list (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
Step Three
jemzy's list
1) To be able to go to Vietnam with my parents and see their birthplace with my own eyes and to see my dad's reactions to being there for the first time in 30 years. I want to revel in that homecoming and be there for him when he comes back to a place he left all those years ago in the midst of an awful war.
2) Postcards or letters in the mail. These make me squee like no other. When I got the card from
dropsofme, I did a little dance....all in the privacy of my room, of course. =-P
3) BPAL stuff because I’m hopelessly addicted. Or Sephora because I love all their stuff…esp. the Memoirs of a Geisha Cherry Blossom set by Fresh. I like bath and beauty stuff. *laughs* I like the shiny and the nice smelling stuff! And candles. Yummmmm.
4) Time. Time to play WoW (World of Warcraft), read fic, try to write a fic, sleep, hang out with friends, go winetasting, take long baths and pamper myself, go shopping. I just need more TIME. XD
5) To travel and visit YOU. Why, yes. I like to travel.
6) Dance lessons. Hip hop, ballroom, more hustle moves, Hula….I want to learn them all!!!!!
7) WORLD PEACE and lower gas prices. Because, really, I'm sick of all the fighting, the wanking, the stupidity of others trying to assert their thinking is the only correct way of thinking. Can't we just live and let live? I want to travel without the threat of suicide bombers or crazy/angry people opening fire on innocent people or being kidnapped and raped. Aaaaand, I don't want to pay obscene amounts for gas despite the fact that the area I live has the highest prices in the nation.
8) Tea/Wine. Tea is awesome and yummy and simply the best. Wine is equally awesome and yummy but sometimes, too much consumption of said liquid leaves me hurting in the morning. XD
9) Gadgets and Gizmos. I'm a geek at heart. I’ve been looking at the new iPod and thinking about getting one (and then stopping by Coach to pick up that blue butterfly iPod case. XD). Or get a new Fujitsu Lifebook that has a good video card so I can play WoW at home. *giggles*
10) anime/fics. I love anything anime-related whether they be fics or pretty pictures. ^_^
♥
By the way, for all you WoW addicts out there, I'm coming back to play. Unfortunately, someone wiped out my characters so I have to start anew. I'll be on there soon!
