Big Ol' Post
Aug. 9th, 2005 09:30 amWell, first off. I want to say that I've been MIA from LJ for a bit. I was off dealing with some personal crap (i.e. feeling utterly depressed over things out of my control) and then off cheering myself up with some great music, fantastic wine, and beautiful people. But I did read everyone's journal and I wish I could comment more but I'm too sleepy to do so. So apologies to all.
On to the RL crap. Work has been kickin' my butt but it should level out soon so I can spend time procrastinating and spammin' y'all. Life has been a rollercoaster lately and I'm finally off that damn ride. But onto the more fun stuff.
On Friday, I was utterly stressed out at work and was depressed by my own thoughts. Mainly because of certain things and events that was supposed to happen but didn't. It just brought it back to her death and her dad spewing more vitriol at me about things I never had a say in. So, I wasn't in my normal frame of mind until I got home and beautified myself for the Michael Buble concert.
OH MAN. IT ROCKED. I ADORED IT. He was funny and vastly entertaining. His voice was still smooth and he encouraged dancing in the aisles and picture taking (stupid ushers were saying "no flash photography"). The theatre itself was gorgeous and the band....I had so much love for them.
He even did a cover of Maroon 5's This Love. OMG. It was awesome and everyone sang along. He did a bit of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean (grabbing his crotch and doing the MJ moves).
prestonsbarr, you would have died loving the entire show. I kept thinking that you have to go see him whenever he comes to Texas!!!!

Oakland's Paramount Theatre in Downtown Oakland.

The stage and curtains....

Michael Buble and the band!!! Oh man...I was a bit far away but it was great anyways.

The Brass section. <333

Closer pics of him because I ran towards the stage to bop and swing with the other crazy kids.

Another great pic of him!
So, I totally enjoyed it. Called up
dramaphile and SQUEEED about it afterwards and to continue our nefarious plans when I come down to visit. hee hee!!! Then I hopped online at my friend's house, had a few glasses of EOS Viognier and talked to
charlottechaos and
cmere1 about phone posts...which they both did and I totally did this drunken squeee when I heard them. *joins Char in Tipshyland which is a very friendly place to be*
So, Saturday. I took the day to laze away and concentrate on me. Waited for
bebiteeny and her sis to stop on by before heading out to have dinner with some friends.
My friend's very cool idea for a fish tank. He has four of them and they're all gorgeous.

My favorite of them all.

The only tall one!

This one was on the wine cabinet and very cute as well.

Our simple dinner. Creamed rice (side dish) and Banh Cuon Thit Nuong (appetizer).

Our main dish was a simple pan-seared Halibut with sauteed brocoli and onions, with a sour cream & chives sauce. My friend Sandra went to culinary school and decided on what to make. She showed me this simple dish and now I can't wait to try it at home.
Dinner was absolutely delicious and ended with ice cream and gelato for dessert. Of course, with this group of friends, no dinner is complete without the wine. We cracked open about 7-8 bottles of wine. Pinot Grigio, White Zinfandel, Sparkling Wine, Chardonnay Port, Viognier, and some non-alcoholic Sparkling Peach Cider. All very yummy. We played "Table Topics" and got into some deep discussions as well as the funny and amusing stuff. All in all...a very good time. I'm glad
bebiteeny and her sis had fun with us old farts.
So Sunday was spent with
bebiteeny and her sis and we wandered around Santana Row, shopping our hearts out and eating more delicious food.
They left to go back to Sacramento and I was off getting ready for the bridal shower. Of course, there was a stripper. And she was really tall. She came out in leather chaps a la Christina Aguilera's Dirrty video. It was pretty hot. Made me want to get myself a pair.

heheh...can't see the bride-to-be's face. *shifty eyes* So no killin' me, Six. But it was fun. The bride was adorably drunk. Dinner at Blowfish was yummy as always; great music with a live DJ and anime playing everywhere, good sushi and great company. Totally awesome.
I had a nice calm Monday evening after a hectic work day. Sat there and watched a good chunk of Initial D, the Chinese Live Action movie. Jay Chou...total cutie and pretty much what I thought Fujiwara Takumi would be if he was a real character (even though Takumi is a lot like Keanu Reeves stiff acting). But the RACING!!! *dies* omg,
veilsdegto, you must watch this with me. The Rx7FC, the Skyline, and the Lancer Evo III....*GUUUUUUUUUH*....and the drifting. *watches with huge eyes* love it. If I wasn't scared of the downhill, I would so learn how to drift off the Santa Cruz Mountains. But I'm a scaredy-cat and don't fancy dying in the mountains nor crashing my car.
myrafur, I am sending it later today so that you and
_luxa can watch it and squee along with me. Although the music for the movie is different (no Eurobeats but more hip hop tracks), it's still an interesting watch, combining all three stages together. And there's SLASH possibilities between Ryosuke Takahashi and Nakazato!!! ♥
easybeef, I got our tickets to see Interpol!!!!! *cheers madly* We'll be joined by my cousin and friends. I'm totally excited!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope everyone else has a wonderful day!!!

Date: 2005-08-09 06:47 pm (UTC)But Michael Buble is a FABULOUS jazz singer. He does a lot of the older songs by Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles as a well as a few songs from more pop styles, i.e. BeeGees, George Michael, Van Morrison. He is ♥ and one of the few artists that I fangirl liek WHOA. *fangirls him some more*

Date: 2005-08-09 07:15 pm (UTC)i'll have to check it out. my musical tastes are all over the board, but there's very few artists i like/respect enough to actually buy their stuff.

Date: 2005-08-09 08:09 pm (UTC)I love MB. I use his music constantly in the dance classes that I help teach. One of the few artists whose entire body of work is in my eclectic collection. I love listening to him on a relaxing evening with some wine. My sis listens to him when she studies.

Date: 2005-08-09 08:11 pm (UTC)2. *looks shiftily* Because it was a bridal/bachelorette party for the bride and to spice it up. Allowed us to get the bride drunk and having a lot of fun with it. hee hee

Date: 2005-08-09 08:34 pm (UTC)but I do love the fish tanks....I like the curvy one the best. It was really pretty during dinner because we lit a floating candle in all but my favorite. The tall one looked best in candlelight and the fish adored it. sooo pretty.

Date: 2005-08-09 09:07 pm (UTC)He DID! He did the first part of Billie Jean in this high squeaky voice, obviously imitating Michael Jackson and did that little dance thing and grabbed his crotch. He stopped just to say that he sang that because all the fangirls wanted to see him grab his crotch. And I DID think of you. If I had your number, I would have called and made you listen to part of the show!!!! *squeeees some more*
*PWNS* yes! Interpol is LOVE. hahahahhah....I might come to Texas next year. Go visit my cousins and my godparents or something. ^_^
Totally go to a stip joint. But go with a bunch of guys and girls. Makes it more fun. heheheheh. *smoooches*
