Hmmm. I know I'm all late and stuff to this question. But over half my HP flist has now increased the ranks of my PoT flist. I would love to know why you all enjoy Prince of Tennis. I know I love the series. Have been for the last few years. But what is it about HP fans that adore Prince of Tennis?

It's a bit strange since I've always been a die-hard anime geek and have only been in the HP fandom for a year or so. All the wankiness of HP makes me delve deeper into my tiny anime fandoms (well...tiny compared to Harry Potter.....although Naruto and Weiz Kruess are equally as big).

So let me know, my lovely flist, as to why do you enjoy Prince of Tennis?

It puzzled me as to what was about PoT that lured the HP fans. But then again, I chalked it up to the great CRACK that is Tennis no Ohjisama. That and the sheer number of pretty boys. I think that lured all the slash-loving part of my flist.


But omg, I am soaked in Kakashi fics, Weiss Kreuz fics, and am craving to know more about Spiral. Although I am re-reading my favorite s-CRY-ed fic.

Onizuka is freakin' awesome. Oh HEY. DID YOU KNOW THAT THEY MADE A REALLIFE MOVIE BASED ON THE SERIES!?!?!??! I am soooo tempted to buy it. I have Initial D the action movie downloaded and it was okay. Not as good as teh anime but the cars were pretty cool. And Kikuchi is AWESOME. I adore Kikuchi.


But then again, I have a thing for anime characters with Glasses. *coughs and points to Tezuka, Shino, Hughes, Inui, and Kikuchi*

No no, not you! You're on my happy list of people I adore. I don't think you jumped on the bandwagon because you're already into anime.

But there are some who I don't adore as much who are just raving over PoT and it makes me feel all petty and childish since my initial reactions are "Mine! Don't come into my fandom!" sort of thing and then I squash it, eat some apples, and then all is right in the world. Then my second reaction is "Nifty! More people to squeal about the boys to! Now if I can get them into Hikaru no Go? *plots*" XD

Yuuta is adorable. Especially when he cries out "ANIKI!!!" as Fuji ignores Mizuki's spiel and takes good care of Yuuta. XDD

I love it. I adore the storyline. And Akira is one of my favorite characters. He's so broody and in need of a social life but he's a brilliant Go player.

Hehe, the only thing that kept me from watching it in the first place was because it was about tennis of all things, which, two months ago, I couldn't stand. But I've always been a die-hard anime fan, too, so once I caved and discovered it was full of teh pretty and teh gay and OMG THERE ARE SO MANY BOYS, I instantly fell in love. It's because of the characters, man. Each and every one of them is awesome. ^.^

Hehe I started out in the HP fandom (that's like the one I doubt I'll ever grow tired of =P) and slowly started getting into anime. Just out of the blue I decided to see what all this PoT was all about and after like the first 5 episodes I was hooked...mostly it was because of Ryoma because I just love characters like him.

But what made me stick was all the characters lol. Mostly the Golden Pair, Inui, Kaidoh and Momo-chan...oh hell add Fuji and Tezuka in there as well. If I am to list all the characters I like we'd be here a long long long time =P

I really, really hope you don't think of me this way. I never had a proper chance to actually experience anime when I was younger because we didn't have Cartoon Networks or cable or whatnot. But THEN I thought about what it is that actually annoys me when people do that sort of thing, and it's when people do it to look good, or so someone else likes them. When it truly is a bandwagon, you know?

I don't know why it happened now when so many of you have loved for ages, but I think it was all about time, place and the ability to actually download the eps myself finally, after Husband finally showed me how bittorrents work :))

*nods* It just seemed like a lot of people were jumping on the bandwagon to sound/act cool, doing the transition from HP slash to PoT where the boys are just naturally slashed. The bandwagon is so blind sometimes. I know it's not any who's friended me back who are teh ones just following since many of them are in anime fandoms as well and merely had teh courage to say Prince of Tennis is teh cool (like I did a two years ago) but it's those whom I just see say, "Oh, woe. I'm sick of HP and the entire Harry/Hermione vs. Harry/Ginny vs. Ron/Hermione/Viktor issues! What's PoT? Hot, slashable guys! And everyone's doing it! So I will too! Because I am cool like that!" that peeves me off. Because I love the boys for the quirks and personalities, not because they are cool and exhibit disturbing but hot characteristics and know fantabulous, superpowered moves that are physically impossible in real life.

Then again.....I learned a LOT about Tennis from watching this series.

Or maybe I'm just protective over my chosen fandoms. I don't want the wankers to come in because some of the fandoms have enough wank already *coughs*SailorMoon*coughs* I don't want my cool fandom to became mainstream and ultra cool because underneath my happy, bouncy exterior lurks a bratty, emo kid who wants to emote and sigh at the world. Then that moment passes and I wonder why I even thought of myself as emo. XD Then I just hand out popcorn, sit back, and watch.

when my brother got into anime i mocked him for it. then he showed me the crack that is goldenboy and that was it. i was hooked. i love anime although not all of it. i've never been in an anime fandom because my brother and his very big crowd of anime loving friends are fandom enough for me and they provide. i've never wanted for anime.
i hated the fact that my HP flist was being plagued with Prince of Tennis but after a bit, i got curious. when the episodes went available for download i tried a few and i am now hooked. i am obsessed. i love it. moreso than i loved chobits, my favorite anime ever. maybe not spirited away, which is my favorite anime movie.
god, this is long.
anyways, i have always been a lurker in HP fandom, so i doubt it'll change for PoT. i'm just enjoying the shiny and squeeing about it.

i've only read the chatroom fic so far because i'm only on episode 22 and i don't want to spoil myself... but once i've seen more of it, i will attack the fic!

but yes, it is crack and it never fails to amuse me and make me roll on the floor laughing. [not even kidding about that] and the characters are all perfect, i love them all. there's not one i don't like nor one i like best. i just adore them and go OMGTEHCUTE every time they're on screen.
