Heylo! plane food on Virgin Atlantic is pretty good (except for the egg and cheese sandwich for breakfast). I ate a lot. When I came to London, I ate some more...couldn't finish the super thick, rich hot chocolate...and when i came home, I'm thinking, "Darn! Should've forced it down anyways."

Tips
Bring 1 or 2 scarves, thick jacket.
Weekly Tube/bus pass is 20 pounds approx
You don't have to show the bus passes when you get on a train, as long as you have it it's ok. Ppl are tall here.

hey cuz!

Tim has never heard of Amaya but knows of a better Indian restaurant down the street.

Walk around Knightsbridge is do-able.
tea
dinner at a "better pub than Coach & Horses" is what he has in mind.

and Cambridge is about a hour and a half ride out of London.....

Dave, we got to our destination about 1pm or so. Plane landed at 10:50, debarkation and walking to customs took another 15 minutes. going through customs was another 15 min wait, then off to find luggage...(took us a while!) and getting tube fare took us a bit as well. Tube ride was about an hour (since we are staying further out than you are. all in all...it was about 1pm when we settled and rested for a bit.

It's very easy if you follow signs. It's a huge-ass airport that's why it took us a long time. Get your weekly tickets at the window before you board the tube...tell them your stop.

:)

What kind of tube week pass did you get? Zone 1 only? Or zone 1 and 2? Or zone 1 through 6? (Is it cheaper to get a Zone 1 week pass and a separate one way trip from Heathrow to London OR to get Zone 1 through 6 week pass? Seems like the first choice is cheaper according to the online site).

Dwong said that Amaya is a new restaurant and was written up by an Indian food critic in Gourmet magazine as the top Indian restaurant in London. Coach and Horses was rated the top gastropub by Timeout London.

What is the name of the Indian restaurant and gastropub that Tim has in mind?

hey uyenie....

we got the zone 1 only pass. since we're going to venture into aone 2, we're just going to purchase a return zone extension pass for the day. since everything we've done so far is in Zone 1 (downtown London) for 20quid.

Tim says that Amaya is a bit pricier than the one we're going and the food is not as good. (and i quote him) i guess it depends if you want expensive gourmet stuff or the real home-made cooking stuff (the restaurant is right across the Indian Embassy and is "excellent").

We can go to Coach and Horses....we passed one yesterday in Soho....not sure if it's the pub that Dave wanted to go to....^_^;

Tim isn't here for me to ask about the names of the restaurant and pub....but *whispers* he's a bit of a snob when it comes to really good food *looks around innocently*
