Do your own damn gardening!

My mom just called and told me that someone stole three of our huge potted orchid plants.

W T F ! ? ! ? ! ? ! ?

Who fucking steals three 30lb potted plants from someone's home? gah. One of them was a present from my sis and I to our mom and she was planning to plant them all soon too.

;______; Those plants were more than $150 each since they were big and beginning to bloom and one of them was one my mom had grown since I graduated college and gave it to her.

Even though I'm glad they didn't break into our house and steal things but still. The neighborhood is pretty safe, especially with the high school at one end and the police & fire station at the other.

*grumbles* some people...*grumble*

Edit: I think I'll take my mom to the Orchid Exposition in February so she can pick out some new ones and see all the other really pretty orchid varietals.

As a gardener, I can tell you with a certainty that people steal plants. A friend of mine's father had a 40+ year-old staghorn fern stolen from his yard. Gardens and parks are frequently hit by collectors (esp. orchid and tropical plant collectors) and landscapers who are too cheap to buy their own, especially of good stuff that's easy to steal but takes a while to establish, like sago palms and saguaro cactus. It sucks a lot. I'm really sorry.

That really sucks that people do that. It's so infuriating to see something that you've spent so much time and energy in just disappear like that simply because people are being immoral or cheap to do things on their own.

*snuggles* I think it's also because crime around my neighborhood is minimal to non-existent other than high school kids throwing trash in our yards, that it's a shock to my parents.

On rare occasion, they even dig up entire yards full of freshly planted plants. those thieves have quite a set on them, digging up an entire yard! the trick is that they look like the gardeners
putting them in, so few people give them a second look.

Yup. The same friend whose family lost the fern, also planted some petunias (with flowers) in her front yard, and the landscapers stole them. Taking plants is theft, but some folks don't think so....

...Wtf. That's so random in a bad way. D< *hugs, just because* ♥

This reminds me of what happened to my friend last week - someone stole their front gate, as in a metal front gate which was presumably attached to a wall. Which is stupid and "Wtf?!" inducing enough, except this happened at around 2pm. Apparently she got home and went inside, everything was normal enough, then around half an hour later her brother came home and asked where the front gate had gone. :/;;;

So yeah, people don't make sense. >O

WHAT THE SHITE. >:[ I HOPE THE THIEF GETS WHAT'S COMING TO EM. I DO NOT LIKE FLOWER STEALERS.

police report

If you have pictures of the plants AND the pots, I'd file a police report. $450 is worth fileing a theft report for. Chances are minimal, but you never know. sometimes you get lucky.

That's so shitty! I can't believe someone would do that...

*hugs* to you and your mom
